I would love to tell you about so many things today but my diseased and tired brain just cannot do it.
So I will give you this.
Someone is missing their cat somewhere. You don’t have to live in rural America to appreciate the absolute wonder of this poster.
Update: Howdy to every one coming over from Eschaton.
Image credit: My pal Linda Mac.
If someone claims it, they can have the ones that must be related to it from my yard.
too funny. hysterical. still laughing. No i reckon it wasn’t friendly. Surprised they had fingers left to hold the marker.
“Not very friendly”…ROFL!!

Uh-oh… Attaturk just front-paged ya @ Eschaton, so HERE COME THE HITS.
.
Oh lawdy.. I hate those kind of kittens!!! that’s too funny though..:)
[…] Via Newscoma… […]
That’s a funny lookin cat.
That’s my Virgil!
What was that phone number?
Please post this on icanhascheezburger.com. No additional lolcaption needed!
bull-dada in action is what I suspect.
April fools joke?
Howdy and thank you that is just the smile I needed to start off the day.
Silly nekkid apes. That’s no kat, it’s my pet chupacabra.
Fluffy, we’ve missed you!
Cuddle that, and you’ll never play the guitar again.
Screams April’s Fool, people. You’ve been had.
It’s still hysterical.
Is that Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles?
Screams April’s Fool, people. You’ve been had.
Of course! But it’s still hilarious!
I kan haz cat bak now?
Humph. “Not very friendly” indeed. They just don’t know how to handle a cat. Why i could make it roll over and play dead in no time…
😀
[…] City slickers, gah. […]
Reminds me of the time a neighbor came over and told me she had found a dead possum in her driveway. (At least she recognized it as a possum). So we went back over, looked, saw nothing. She was completely bewildered. “But I SAW it!”
That’s when we had a little talk about the defensive strategies of Didelphis Virginiana
Of course! But it’s still hilarious!
Indeed, but the horribly-named Attaturk (does he know what he shares the name of a notorious dictator, I wonder?) advanced this on Eschaton as “the state of the American educational system is depressing.” He took the thing seriously.
This is an old one and, as Jon Says, an obvious joke.
“I call the big one, ‘Bitey.'”
Jamey, your comment made me laugh as much as the picture did. 🙂
George W. Bush (07:52:20) :
I kan haz cat bak now?
LOL!
Of course Attaturk knows from whence his name cometh. Why don’t you go over to Rising-Hegemon and ask him about it? I suspect it will be a lot like cuddling that kitteh pictured here!
Southern Beale,
Yes Indeed.
That’s a hipster prank: everyone who lives on or near Sunset knows what a possum looks like.
Possums, coyotes, skunks, deer, etc., we have them all living in the Hollywood Hills and you see them all the time. Hell, I just saw a coyote in the middle of the day at Wilton & Santa Monica.
The sad corollary? Anytime you see a ‘missing cat/dog’ flyer in those same areas… sorry, they’re not “missing” – they coyotes got ’em.
[…] 3, 2008 by grimsaburger Oh, dear sweet Jesus. Look at this. Having been in close proximity to an opossum before, I cannot imagine how they got close enough to […]
reminds me of the stupid neighbor kids (that have since moved away, praise jesus) that were calling the groundhog living under my woodpile a beaver.

Marsupial mania on the Innertubes.
Practical joke or not, still funny.
“ndeed, but the horribly-named Attaturk (does he know what he shares the name of a notorious dictator, I wonder?) advanced this on Eschaton as “the state of the American educational system is depressing.” He took the thing seriously.”
Apparently he’s right about the educational system, since people like you can’t recognize irony when it jumps up and punches you in the face.
Reminds me of the problem we had with the ‘black and white cat’ that my father-in-law thought was lost. Very funny.
A few years ago these same telephone poles had flyers for ‘Missing Lizard’ on them, featuring a komodo dragon I believe. Same neighborhood. Same pranksters.
That’s some mean looking pussy ya got there. It reminds me of the Clouseau line “Ders yeur derg baht?”
Hey, that looks just like the cat that comes up on my deck every night.
Everybody knows that’s a dog……..with little human-like hands…
If the people from the Vietnamese restaurant show up to claim it DO NOT GIVE IT TO THEM.
Aw, mannnn… I wanted it to be true.
Greenbanks, it is if we believe real, real hard.
🙂
Sorta like Dorothy getting home and out of Oz, but for more nefarious reasons such as our own amusement.
Apparently he’s right about the educational system, since people like you can’t recognize irony when it jumps up and punches you in the face.
Irony, huh? I’ll tell you what’s funnier than any obvious April’s Fool joke: ignoramuses who like to excuse idiocy by calling it “irony” because they think it makes therm seems smart and culturally aware. Well, Sarah dear, let me explain how “irony” works”: Irony is basically exaggeration withing an appropriate context. So, when Colbert channels and exaggerates Falafel Bill within the context of an opinion TV show, that’s irony. Giving yourself the moniker of a somewhat obscure military dictator without any context is just, well, stupid — but, I must admit, not as stupid as people who use words they don’t understand.
Hey, ‘Coma, this post just showed up on one of my mailing lists. I guess via Eschaton. The internets is a very, very small place.
It ’tis, nm. My first link from Atrios.
Yay!!!
Well Attaturk, actually, who is of the groovy.
Oh, sure, and next thing we know you’ll become an A-lister yourself and won’t speak to your friends any more. Heh. Good for you — I hope some of them stick around and look at your other stuff.
interesting that the text is almost identical to this other poster I found just the other day. hmm…

Call Mack now!! We need another cabin throwdown! Heh.
I’ll bring the beer.
I have no idea, Masao-Kun, where it came from. It must be a viral epidemic. I got it through an email.
They both make me laugh.
In the (in my opinion small) chance that’s not a joke, I wonder how the male/female exam went?!?
Saw the same notice with the same wording including the smiley but with pictures of a different animal.. almost certainly an April Fools joke.
Wow! Anyone else read the book The Last Child In The Woods, by Louv? Talk about your Nature Deficit Disorder!
Irony is basically exaggeration withing an appropriate context.
That isn’t the definition of irony. Colbert tends to engage in parody and satire, he often tends to use sarcasm, but not so often irony.
Irony, is about expectations being different that reality…or when the full significance of a character’s words or actions are unknown to them but known to an audience. Irony is about contradiction, not about exaggeration.
Looks like Opie my pet possum. Opie is away training for the tree climbing competition in the Beijing Olympics, that is if he can stand the toxic Chinese soup he’ll have to breath. Last letter from him was postmarked L.A. Opie wrote (he’s a really smart possum) that he was on the 10 imitating road kill so he could condition his lungs to the upcoming event. L.A. smog is about as close to Beijing as you can get without actually being there.
That wasn’t in Hooterville was it?
In any case, that’s so awesome. Hee hee.
Not in Hoots.
Sunset Blvd? I’m guessing LA. I’m smart that way. 🙂
lmao
Hell, you don’t have to live in rural America to know what a friggin’ cat looks like . . . . .
thats a possum

Thanks, t6, for the correction on irony. As luck would have it, there’s a rather good example of dramatic irony already posted in the comments here…

Funny.
Congrats on the Eschaton link. I put this up awhile back and didn’t nobody like it then!
Lols!
Thank god I hate cats anyway:)))

I have never seen a cat like this before 😉
Hi, i’m Sara, i’m live in Italy and I like your blog very much!
I am form INDIA that does not look like a cat at all ha ha
One of the photos is of course taken from Wikipedia. Funny, though 😀
Oh, Hell! That’s my pet wombat, Wally, that escaped after out-manoeuvring my flame thrower. Ended up eating the neighbour’s pooch instead.
What I can’t understand is how Wally drifted over to the Western Seaboard of the USA from Epsom (in England, for those upright US citizens that haven’t yet discovered the existence of a world outside of the USA – and that’s most!) and am even more surprised that someone else had the audacity to claim Wally as his/hers. Don’t Californians have any sense of morality?
At least Wally would have made a better President than @+%$£-face(What’sthe half-wit’s name?). Maybe Wally can fool you guys into electing him next President of the USA! For that you can thank me later.
I got it in an email. I must have missed it it’s first go around.
It’s funny. Thanks Raincoaster!
lol, @ not very friendly,

Jon, you are very funny. “Irony is basically exaggeration withing an appropriate context.” Wrong, wrong, wrong. That is hyperbole. Irony is something entirely different. I suggest you consult a dictionary.
Well… Unless Jon was using irony there, intentionally defining “irony” incorrectly…
