Random Thoughts

I was talking to Ivy last week about the state of the nation and the Russia/Georgia war and she said “I’m sort of waiting for the other shoe to drop.”

Now, I know you want to be talking up some Bigfoot right now so bear with me.

As we watch an Arkansas Democratic Party leader slaughtered and the news at one of my juke joints last night the news blared with the press conference that President Bush stating we were supporting Georgia in this matter, Ivy’s words blazed through my cranium.

I was sitting with an older gentleman who leans right of the political aisle and he asked me about Barack Obama and how he would deal with this situation if he were president.

I told him these things were not about right or left because I knew he was itching for a debate and I wasn’t in the mood. We sit comfortably having a hopps and barley beverage and so we have no idea what it is like having tanks drive down our street is what I tell him.

To change the conversation, I asked him what it was like to live in the 60s.

He said very similar to what was going on now.

In Hoots, I’m seeing graffiti that is anti-war. In Hooterville? (I realize I’m showing my age here and for clarification, I see Hooterville as my entire county if you were wondering.)

Is this all related? Probably not.

This is a rambling post with no point really but are we waiting for the other shoe to drop? We are very lucky in this country in so many ways.

But I’m wary.

The normalcy of my life continues. Here at the commune, a 9-year-old niece is going over her spelling words.

We move forward.

War In Russia/Georgia

Can someone explain to me what the HELL is going on between Russia and Georgia?

Sexual Harrassment Necessary For Survival Of Human Race?

6 08 2008

You can’t make certain things up.

A woman seeking to become only the third woman ever to successfully bring a sexual harassment case in Russia was dealt a shocking rebuke when the judge threw out her case, ruling that sexual harassment is actually necessary for the survival of the human race:

The judge said this:

“If we had no sexual harassment we would have no children,” the judge ruled.

Remind me not to go to Russia anytime soon. Also remind me if this judge comes to Hooterville, that I need to throw a rabid raccoon at him.

Peeing On The Wheels Of A Bus

19 06 2008

No, I’m serious.

Cosmonauts have a tradition that is quite unique. They pee on the wheels of the bus that takes them to the launch pad.

No, I’m not lying. And I realize this post is not necessary but I thought it was interesting. More useless trivia from Newscoma.

From CNN.

Russia’s new president Dmitry Medvedev wasted no time in knuckling down to work–naming his predecessor Vladimir Putin as his new prime minister two hours after he was sworn in Wednesday, agencies report.

Anyone surprised. Anyone?
