Ahh, dear readers. Once again we return to why I haven’t been blogging today.
Well, I got bit by a Black Widow on the top of my foot. Those of you who have read me in the past know that I am somewhat phobic about spiders but I didn’t see this one. I just saw my foot swell up like a softball. It hurts but isn’t a terrible as some horror stories I’ve heard from other folks because Squirrel Queen and I were at the doctor’s office within about an hour.
Spiders wig me out.
Although this could, of course, give me spidey senses which I would willingly accept because I think I’m needed for a life of superhero-dom. I don’t think I would want to be Spiderman though. He’s too tormented.
I sort of think it would be fun to be Hellboy. I don’t know, he seems pretty clear in his intentions. I like that. He also has cool friends and drinks a lot of beer.
Yeah, Hellboy. I just like him.
Why am I on this tangent?
The drugs, I remember now. And Hellboy is on television. There could be thread to all of this.
Been an odd summer.

Remember in the 70’s when BW’s were THE scary spider? I guess they’re still scary but they were the Brown Recluses of the Nixon/Carter era.
You git yoseff into some of the most interesting sitcheeayshuns.
I think I would just die from knowing a spider like that was close enough to bite me. I’d have to boil my clothes and sleep in a hotel or something. Hope you feel better soon.
I saw Hellboy II this weekend. Review forthcoming, but spoiler… I really enjoyed it.
Did you bite the sumbitch back?
Dear Coma,
If you get super powers, can you please start your crime fighting career putting an end to the limp dick con artists currently controlling the Executive Branch of the US Government?
Sincerely,
Jackson
Dear Jackson,
Will do. First thing on the list of things to do.
XXOO,
Newscoma
I have a grad school friend who is exactly like Hellboy…only not red. And his horns were less visible. But other than that, yeah, it’s all Hellboy.
‘Coma, I’m with WheresBobbleHeadGeorge: did you bite her/him back?
I almost touched a black widow a few days ago, while picking up a garden hose reel. It still wigs me out.
Ewww.
I hope you’re better soon.
Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry dear. Hang in there. Hugs.
I didn’t even know they had black widows in Tennessee. I thought TN. was all about the brown recluse!
Coming from Texas, we had tons of black widows, but I don’t think one ever bit me.
Now that you’re okay, let us know when you start growing hair on your back and climbing buildings.
If only Bigfoot could have bitten you, instead…
Yikes! I was bit by a baby recluse once, and came within inches of an adult one just last week, but a widow? Scary stuff, and probably not nearly as cool as Vincent Price makes ’em sound in that Alica Cooper song.
Saw Hellboy this weekend. Excellent flick. And he does drink some beer. And I liked that it was Mexican beer. Not sure if that was part of the comic or was that a Del Toro touch?
The joy of the nausea and the leg cramps are messing with my good life here. I want to see Hellboy II this weekend.
I think the Gods are mad at me this summer.
Losing. All. Hope. 😉
