North Carolina Democratic Debate Cancelled

21 04 2008

Well, I wasn’t going to watch it after last week’s debacle (and I say that then I would watch it anyway ’cause that’s how I swing) but I’m here to serve you with information you either want or don’t.

We regret to inform you that the proposed Democratic Presidential Debate scheduled for April 27 has been cancelled due to time constraints and logistical issues associated with such a large, national event.

You have shown tremendous passion and interest in being a part of history as Democrats are poised this year to elect the first female or African-American President. However, there were also growing concerns about what another debate would do to party unity.

But, Obama, McCain and Clinton will be on Monday Night Raw tonight. (H/T SleepyDad)

Anyone Surprised? Anyone?

Bueller? Bueller?

I need a Xanax to help with the migraines that started when this race started in what feels like 1998.

As I’ve posted elsewhere, I think at this point the only purpose these Democratic debates serve is to generate ad revenue for whatever network is hosting it. As the ABC debate proved, the networks can’t be trusted to behave responsibly–that is, they can’t be trusted to not use GOP talking points and Republican framing of the Democratic candidates. Therefore, I think the Democrats should say NO MORE DEBATES until we can debate John McCain. A REAL debate. Right now all we’re doing is making a bunch of $ for networks by letting them portray us as the unpatriotic, tax-hiking DFH’s the GOP keeps telling the country we are.

Who needs that? Screw ’em.

I don’t want anymore debates either. You are so right, So. Beale that it really is about Ad Revenue. After last week’s fiasco, I was done.
CNN has already showed what they are going to do anyway on the WWE. I thought Colbert was better. 😉

Debates are very useful things. There are all sorts of formats they could use. They could let Hillary and Barack ask each other questions to be answered, alternating- if they don’t like those asked by the press. What ever happened to the League of Women Voter debates or some unversity. But, the real reason Obama doesn’t want to debate is because he’s lousy at it and because his true being come out in the debates. He no longer looks like the practiced articulate God that he wants to be. The Dems should get some other arrangement for some sort of debate. People do want to see the debates. There are plenty of questions on specific topics that should be asked.
