Amazing, Utterly Amazing

Huh?

The U.S. Military is demanding that thousands of wounded service personnel give back signing bonuses because they are unable to serve out their commitments.

To get people to sign up, the military gives enlistment bonuses up to $30,000 in some cases.

Now men and women who have lost arms, legs, eyesight, hearing and can no longer serve are being ordered to pay some of that money back.

My granddad lost a great deal of his hearing in WWII after a shell went off near him.

I have no words.

An Update over at Aunt B’s from Bob Krumm. It looks like this might be getting fixed. Thank God, ’cause I was pissed about it last night.

This absolutely pisses me off. Anyone who thinks this is a good idea should be embarrassed to be an American. Something like this is a disgrace to all service people, past & present. I couldn’t imagine what my brother-in-law, currently serving his 3rd term in Iraq or my father-in-law, who is fighting for his life in a VA Hospital & who also served in Vietnam or my great-uncle who was in the first group to enter Germany in WWII would think of their beloved government representatives now. I’m gonna go throw up now.

Wrong. That’s really all that works. Pissed off doesn’t work anymore with the current administration – there’s so much! Steve Earle’s new song “Rich Man’s War” sums it up again. So do the numbers. This war is being fought by poor, rural, not well-educated persons of no interest. They are classified as 01-B (#1 Bulletstoppers). If the decision to do this to them is made, they are the least capable of fighting back. Less capable than the iraquis even. Sad and disgusting. They should be ashamed… but they aren’t. That’s the problem. And, you gotta love the fact that red-state koolaid drinkers, even in my family, say that because I don’t support the SOB in Chief and his terrorist agenda that I am not supporting the troops. Apparently neither does he, after they cannot kill, and kill, and kill somemore for him. Enough of this, I’m boiling again.

Missy, this just amazes me.
Supporting our troops mean we support our troops, not just when we send them off to war.
We take care of them because they took care of us.
I am glad you guys have the words, because when I read it, I didn’t. I still don’t.
The words I have are not family blog friendly.

We think they should all refuse to pay them.

Why do we keep letting our Representatives in Congress pass ridiculous legislation!

Lets vote them out!!!

“Why do we always send the poor? Why don’t Presidents fight the war.”
